Commercial Laundry Equipment Delivery and Moving

Commercial washers, dryers and ironers are heavy, top-heavy and almost always headed for a tight room. Professional Moving Solutions handles last mile delivery, inside placement, storage and removal of commercial laundry equipment, with two-person or larger crews and coverage nationwide.

Who we move laundry equipment for

Laundromat owners call us when they open a new store, refit an existing one or swap out a row of tired machines. Laundry equipment distributors and manufacturers use us as their last mile delivery partner, getting machines from the warehouse to the customer and into the room where they will run.

We also deliver to hotels, hospitals and nursing homes with on-premises laundries, apartment and multifamily laundry rooms, universities, gyms and fire stations. If a building washes its own linens, uniforms or gear, we can get the equipment in.

Commercial laundry equipment we move

  • Hard-mount and soft-mount washer-extractors
  • Tumble dryers and stack dryers
  • Stacked washer/dryers
  • Flatwork ironers and folders
  • Payment kiosks and change machines, emptied of cash before we move them (we do not handle, transport or store cash)
  • Laundry carts and folding tables

Why commercial laundry equipment is hard to move

Laundry machines are heavy and top-heavy. The largest washer-extractors weigh well over a thousand pounds, and most of that weight sits in the drum and the frame, so a machine that tips is hard to stop. Stack dryers are tall and narrow, and ironers are long and awkward to turn.

The rooms are rarely easy, either. Laundry rooms sit behind narrow doors, down basement stairs or at the back of a strip-mall unit with no dock. Floors and door frames need protection all the way in. Hard-mount washer-extractors are bolted to a concrete pad, so they must be disconnected and unbolted before anyone can move them.

Last mile delivery and inside placement

We pick up from the distributor or manufacturer, deliver to the site and carry each machine inside. The crew uncrates and inspects every machine, then places it on the pad or in the room of choice. Floor runners and blanket protection go down along the path in, and packaging and debris leave with us. Every delivery is scheduled with a call ahead, and you get photo proof of delivery and a signature when the job is done.

Storage until the site is ready

Machines often arrive before the room is finished. We hold commercial laundry equipment in our Richmond, VA, commercial storage, from one pallet up to 100 pallets, until the site is ready, and we also have a location in Edison, NJ. When the build-out is done, we deliver on the date you set.

Removing old machines

On a replacement, we move the old machines out once they have been disconnected, usually on the same visit that brings the new ones in. Old units go back to the distributor, into storage or out for disposal, as you instruct. For more on removals, see reverse logistics.

Working with your installer

We meet the installer on site and schedule around them, so machines are placed, unpacked and ready when the technician starts. On a swap-out, we line up with the technician's disconnect so the old machines come out and the new ones go straight in.

What we do not do

We do not make gas, electrical, water, drain or vent hook-ups, and we do not anchor or grout hard-mount machines. That work stays with the distributor's technicians or a licensed installer. We coordinate our delivery with them so the job runs in order.

Payment kiosks and change machines must be emptied of cash before we move them. We do not handle, transport or store cash.

How it works

  1. Send us the machines, the pickup location and the site address.
  2. We plan the crew and equipment around the path in and the installer.
  3. The crew delivers, uncrates and places each machine, and takes out the old ones.
  4. Your installer connects and starts up the equipment.

Planning checklist

To quote and plan the job, we need:

  • Model numbers and the count of each machine
  • Dimensions and weights
  • Door widths and the path from the truck to the room
  • Stairs, elevator or loading dock
  • Where each machine sits
  • Who is installing, and when
  • Whether old machines are leaving

Multi-site rollouts

Laundromat chains and property portfolios often replace equipment across many locations. We stage machines in storage and deliver to each site on its own date, nationwide. See warehousing and rollout staging for how we handle multi-site projects.

A crew you can send into any building

Every driver and helper is background checked and drug screened, and on-site supervisors and daily crew audits keep the work consistent from one site to the next.

Related services include appliance delivery, last mile delivery, white glove delivery, specialized delivery, high value shipping, medical equipment delivery and trade show shipping. We deliver nationwide; see our service areas.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to move commercial laundry equipment?

It depends on the number of machines, their weight, the distance and the access at the site, such as door widths, stairs and whether there is a loading dock. Send us the details from the planning checklist and we will come back with a free quote.

Can you move a hard-mount washer-extractor?

Yes, once your technician has disconnected it and unbolted it from the concrete pad. Hard-mount machines are bolted down, so that work has to happen before anyone can move them. We line up with the technician's disconnect so the old machine comes out and the new one goes straight in.

Do you install commercial washers and dryers?

No. We deliver, uncrate, inspect and place the machines on the pad or in the room of choice. Gas, electrical, water, drain and vent hook-ups, and anchoring or grouting hard-mount machines, stay with the distributor's technicians or a licensed installer, and we schedule around them.

Can you store machines until my laundromat is ready?

Yes. We hold equipment in our Richmond, VA, commercial storage, from one pallet up to 100 pallets, until the site is ready. When the build-out is done, we deliver on the date you set.

Do you deliver to laundromats and laundry rooms with no loading dock?

Yes. Laundry rooms often sit behind narrow doors, down basement stairs or at the back of a strip-mall unit with no dock. Tell us the access, including door widths, stairs, elevator and parking, and we plan the crew and equipment for it.

Do you work nationwide?

Yes. We deliver commercial laundry equipment nationwide, from a single machine to multi-site rollouts for laundromat chains and property portfolios. We stage machines in storage and deliver to each site on its own date.

What do you need to quote a commercial laundry equipment move?

We need the model numbers and count of each machine, their dimensions and weights, the door widths and the path from the truck to the room, and whether there are stairs, an elevator or a loading dock. We also need to know where each machine sits, who is installing and when, and whether old machines are leaving.

Can you take out our old washers and dryers?

Yes, once they have been disconnected. We usually take them out on the same visit that brings the new ones in. Old units go back to the distributor, into storage or out for disposal, as you instruct.
