Salvage and Used Equipment Hauling, State to State

Salvage, used and surplus equipment has to get from where it sits to where it is worth something: a recycler, a buyer, a refurbisher or a warehouse. Professional Moving Solutions is a freight carrier for that move. We pick up from offices, warehouses, data centers, stores and recycler facilities and haul it state to state, nationwide, as a full truckload (FTL) or a partial load (LTL) of 1 to 21 pallets. Our background-checked, drug-screened crews load the truck, and every pickup and delivery is documented with signed paperwork.

What is salvage equipment hauling?

Salvage equipment hauling is the freight transportation of used, surplus, damaged or end-of-life equipment from where it sits to a recycler, buyer, refurbisher or warehouse. A carrier picks up palletized or crated equipment, moves it state to state, and delivers it with signed paperwork.

The category is wide. It includes a pallet of retired servers leaving a data center, a rack of network gear headed to a reseller, copiers coming out of an office, and a gaylord of e-waste moving to a recycling facility. What the loads share is that they are heavy, awkward for parcel carriers, and need a carrier that counts, documents and delivers them to a named destination.

Professional Moving Solutions is the freight carrier in that chain. We handle salvage freight shipping, transporting equipment from your site to its next stop, with background-checked, drug-screened crews who load the truck. We do not recycle equipment or wipe or destroy data. That stays with your ITAD company or recycler, and a clear line between transport and processing keeps responsibilities simple.

Types of salvage and used equipment we ship

If it fits on a pallet or in a gaylord, it is freight we can move. These are the groups we haul most.

IT and data center equipment

Servers, storage arrays, switches and other network gear, racks and cabinets, and UPS and power gear. This equipment is heavy and does not like rough handling, so we ship it palletized and strapped, with blanket wrap where it needs extra protection. It suits technology equipment shipping and any IT shipment between sites.

Office equipment

Copiers, printers, desktop computers, laptops and monitors. Office equipment transport usually means many small items across several pallets, so an accurate pallet count and photos help us plan the right truck and crew.

Retail and banking equipment

Kiosks, point-of-sale hardware and ATMs. These units are tall, heavy or awkward, so tell us the dimensions and weight and whether the unit is upright, on a pallet or crated, and we plan the labor and truck around it.

E-waste pallets and gaylords

Palletized e-waste and gaylords of mixed equipment moving to recyclers. This is the freight behind e-waste freight and electronics recycling transportation: loads that go out regularly, often in LTL quantities, and that need a carrier who documents every pickup and delivery.

Surplus, liquidation and auction equipment

Surplus lots, liquidation inventory and auction purchases of every kind. Buyers often have a short window to collect after a sale, so call as soon as you win with the lot details and the pickup deadline.

Data center decommissioning and server refresh pickups

Data center equipment removal is rarely a single event. Servers, storage, switches, racks and UPS units come out of data centers, colocation cages and server rooms during a decommissioning, a consolidation or a hardware refresh, including AI server refreshes that retire a whole generation of gear at once. We pick up that equipment and haul it, FTL or LTL, to the ITAD company, recycler, reseller or warehouse you choose.

This is server pallet shipping and IT asset transportation as a freight service. You tell us how many pallets or racks are leaving, where they sit and where they go. We plan the truck and the crew around the access at your site, whether that is a loading dock, a freight elevator or a liftgate pickup, and our background-checked, drug-screened crews do the loading.

Large decommissions often move in waves, so a partial load can go as pallets are ready and a full truck, up to 21 pallets, can take the rest. If the destination is not ready, short-term storage in our Richmond, VA warehouse can hold the pallets until it is.

De-racking, packing and palletizing IT equipment

Used IT equipment shipping starts at the rack. Our background-checked crews de-rack servers and network gear, so your team does not have to pull every unit before the truck arrives. Where the equipment calls for it, we place units in anti-static bags, then pad them, palletize them, shrink-wrap each pallet and label it so the pallet matches the paperwork.

  • De-rack servers and network gear from cabinets and racks.
  • Anti-static bag units where needed.
  • Pad the equipment so it does not shift or get scratched in transit.
  • Palletize on sturdy pallets, keeping each load inside the pallet footprint.
  • Shrink-wrap and label each pallet.

Loose drives are a special case. They travel in locked, sealed containers and go to your chosen data destruction vendor or recycler. We transport the drives. We do not wipe or destroy data ourselves. Tell us before pickup if drives are coming out with the equipment so we can plan the containers, and send the rack count, unit count and photos so we can size the crew for technology equipment shipping from your site.

Chain of custody paperwork on salvage loads

Chain of custody on a salvage load comes down to being able to show what was picked up, who handled it and who received it. Depending on the load, here is what we can provide:

  • An item count, or a serial number or asset-tag list at pickup when you need one.
  • Seal numbers recorded on locked containers.
  • Driver and crew names for the pickup.
  • A signed pickup receipt.
  • A signed delivery receipt.
  • Pallet photos on request.

The certificate of data destruction or recycling does not come from us. It comes from your certified ITAD partner or recycler, who processes the equipment after delivery. We are the carrier in the chain: we document the move from your dock to theirs. If your process needs a specific asset list format or photo set, tell us when you book so the crew can capture it on the day.

FTL vs LTL salvage freight

We run salvage freight as a partial load (LTL) or a full truckload (FTL), from 1 to 21 pallets. LTL pallet shipping means you pay for the space your pallets use. FTL means your equipment has the truck to itself, which keeps handling to a minimum and suits larger clear-outs.

For used equipment shipping, LTL ground freight is the right fit when you ship a few pallets at a time. A full truck is the better fit when the load is large or when you want it kept separate. If you are comparing LTL moving companies or LTL moving services, send us the pallet count and we will recommend the better fit for your route.

How it works

  1. Send us the details: pallet count, dimensions, weight, pickup and delivery ZIP codes, photos and your pickup date.
  2. Get a quote based on what is moving, the load size and the route.
  3. We pick up from your office, warehouse, data center, store or recycler facility, and the crew loads the truck.
  4. We deliver to the recycler, buyer or warehouse you named.
  5. You get signed pickup and delivery paperwork for the shipment.

How to prepare salvage freight for pickup

A well-prepared pickup is faster to load and easier to quote. Before the truck arrives:

  • Palletize the equipment on sturdy pallets and keep each load stable and inside the pallet footprint.
  • Shrink-wrap and strap each pallet so nothing shifts, and put loose items in boxes or gaylords.
  • Label each pallet with a number and the destination, so pickup and delivery match the paperwork.
  • Count the pallets and measure each one, then note the total weight.
  • Take photos of each pallet from the front and the side.
  • Tell us about access: loading dock, liftgate needed, inside pickup, floor, elevator or stairs, and delivery hours.
  • Stage the pallets near the door and keep a pickup contact reachable.

For equipment that needs extra protection, ask about blanket wrap shipping, also called pad wrap trucking, so the freight is padded on the truck.

What affects the cost of shipping salvage equipment

We do not publish a flat rate, because moving freight is priced by the details of each shipment. Send them with your request and we quote the move.

  • Distance between the pickup and delivery ZIP codes.
  • Number of pallets and the dimensions of each one.
  • Total weight of the shipment.
  • LTL or FTL, which depends on how much you are moving.
  • Inside pickup, including floors, stairs and carrying distance.
  • Whether a liftgate is needed because there is no loading dock.
  • Storage before delivery, if the destination is not ready.
  • Pickup date, and how soon you need it. Requests for expedited ground shipping depend on the route and truck availability.

The more you send up front, the more accurate the quote, and the fewer surprises on pickup day.

Auction and liquidation pickups

Winning an auction lot is the easy part. The buyer usually has a limited window to collect, and the lot may be a mix of pallets, loose equipment and machines in a building the buyer has never visited. We handle auction shipping and hauling auction purchases for buyers, from the seller location to your warehouse, recycler or refurbisher.

For an auction pickup service, send the lot details, the seller address, the pickup window and any release paperwork from the seller. If you need to compare shipping bids for a larger lot, you can request one directly. Liquidators moving surplus inventory out of a closed site follow the same steps.

State-to-state salvage equipment shipping

Salvage and used equipment rarely ends up near where it started. A data center in one state may send servers to a recycler in another, and a buyer may need a lot moved across the country. We handle state to state equipment shipping and nationwide equipment transportation, with locations in Richmond, VA, Edison, NJ and Houston, TX, so one equipment transporter can cover both ends of the move.

We serve lanes in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Washington, DC, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Florida and California, and everywhere in between. For example, Virginia to North Carolina, Maryland to New Jersey, New Jersey to New York, Pennsylvania to Texas, Illinois to Georgia, and Florida to California are all lanes we can quote when you need to move freight between those states.

Who we haul salvage equipment for

  • ITAD companies that need an ITAD freight carrier for pickups and transfers between facilities.
  • Electronics recyclers moving pallets and gaylords in and out of their facilities.
  • IT resellers and refurbishers moving used equipment to their warehouse or to buyers.
  • Liquidators moving surplus and closeout inventory.
  • Auction buyers who need won lots picked up and shipped.
  • Businesses clearing out equipment from offices, warehouses, data centers or stores.

Surplus equipment transport is usually a recurring need for these customers, so a single carrier that knows the pickup sites and the destinations can save time on every load. Whether it is one pallet of returned gear or a full truck from a closed site, the process is the same: send the details, get a quote, and we handle the pickup and delivery.

Short-term storage in Richmond, VA

If your equipment is not ready to ship, or the recycler or buyer is not ready to receive it, we can hold it in our Richmond, VA warehouse. Short-term storage runs from 1 to 100+ pallets.

Storage works well for staging a large clear-out in waves, for holding auction purchases until your buyer is ready, and for consolidating pallets from several pickups into one outbound load. When the destination is ready, we deliver it.

Storing equipment with us keeps your pallets in one place while you finalize a sale, wait for a recycler appointment or collect more equipment from other sites. Tell us the pallet count and how long you expect to need space, and we confirm availability with your quote.

Why use a freight carrier instead of a junk hauler

A junk hauler is built to take things away. A freight carrier is built to deliver them somewhere specific. Salvage equipment still has value or a defined next step, and recyclers and buyers expect it to arrive intact, counted and documented.

  • Every shipment goes to a named recycler, buyer or warehouse.
  • Pickup and delivery are documented with signed paperwork.
  • Crews are background-checked and drug-screened.
  • Loads are planned by pallet count, dimensions and weight, not guessed.
  • We haul state to state, so one carrier handles the whole lane.

If the equipment is also coming back from customers or stores, our reverse logistics service covers the return side of the same freight.
